Follow God Wholeheartedly and Expect His Best!
We can see in the story the effect of not following God wholeheartedly.
In their generation God was very vocal on how He felt, through His chosen ones and It shows that God talked and said to them clearly the consequences of disobeying Him.
So does it mean when I don't follow Him He'll kill me right away?
No ! We see that they waited 40 years for the wicked to disappear from God's eyes. So if you were 20 years old by then you still live 60 years.
They love and serve God Half or 1/4 heartedly meaning that they don't really follow all His commands and are still very attached to the things that they see now(the rich pasture), rather than what God sees for them(the promised land).
In verses 16-42 we can see that they followed God and they got what was okay the land with rich pasture but, they missed out God's best for them. The promised land, the land which they call the land flowing with milk and honey.
For example:
In our life we all have a tendency to rush.
For example as a kid I would buy a toy immediately and would not follow to wait what my parents would buy me.
So when they see me already having that toy, they wouldn't buy me anymore. Then they would buy my brother an awesomer toy than what I have, all because I didn't followed them and didn't wait for their best.
Just like in relationships (teenagers ! :)) )
We would have gf's or bf's and would not really wait for God's best. I believe that is why there are a lot of cases of couples divorcing all because we often want something better, I believe it's because we didn't wait for God's best.
If we serve Him wholeheartedly God will surely give us the best and contentment we need in all aspects of life just as it says in Proverbs 3:1-2 ! If we follow God wholeheartedly and then we can surely expect for His best for us!
